A Trip to Prague

As someone who loves to travel, I decided to finally embark on a long-awaited trip to Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The city is filled with history and beauty around every corner. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting three of the most iconic landmarks in the city: Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square. I want to share my experience with you and why you should add these must-see spots to your travel itinerary.

Prague Castle, or Pražský hrad in Czech, is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Prague. It’s the largest ancient castle in the world, dating back to the year 870. The castle is located on top of a hill overlooking the city, and the view from the top is incredible. There are many things to explore on the grounds, such as St. Vitus Cathedral, which is a stunning Gothic-style church that took over six centuries to complete. I recommend also visiting Golden Lane, a set of colorful 16th-century cottages on the castle grounds, where you can learn about the medieval life of craftspeople and alchemists.

Charles Bridge, or Karlův most in Czech, is a beautiful bridge that spans across the Vltava River. It’s one of the most iconic landmarks in Prague and offers stunning views of the city’s old town and castle. The bridge dates back to the 14th century and is lined with 30 baroque-style statues. Walking across the bridge can be crowded, but it’s worth it to take your time and enjoy the view. You can also take a stroll along the riverbanks, where you’ll find plenty of cozy cafes and restaurants.

Old Town Square, or Staroměstské náměstí in Czech, is in the heart of Prague’s old town and is the perfect spot to experience the city’s history, culture, and architecture. The square is bustling with activity throughout the day, and it’s one of the best places to watch the famous astronomical clock strike the hour. You can also explore the Gothic-style Church of Our Lady before Týn or climb to the top of the Old Town Hall Tower for stunning views of the city.

Prague is a city that should be on every traveler’s bucket list, and the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square are three spots not to be missed! Exploring the history and beauty of this city was truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you’re planning a trip to Prague, make sure to add these landmarks to your itinerary – I promise you won’t regret it.
